​The Brewster Teachers’ Association kicked off the new school year on Tuesday, September 1, with a Welcome Back Breakfast for BTA members at Brewster High School. 

Members gathered over breakfast sandwiches and coffee, taking the opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, catch up after the summer, and start the new school year together. The breakfast provided a relaxed way for members from across the district to come together before the year officially got underway.
Following the breakfast, BTA members held their first General Membership Meeting of the school year. Members received updates on several important BTA initiatives and upcoming events, including the BTA scholarship program, the Association’s fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and upcoming public events.
Welfare Fund Chairperson Noelle Palumbo also provided an update on the Welfare Fund and the benefits available to BTA members.
The meeting concluded with a keynote address from BTA President Paul George, who challenged members to think about the difference they can make throughout the coming school year. In his message, George encouraged members to make their mark, both in their classrooms and as members of the BTA community.
As the 2026-27 school year begins, the BTA looks forward to another year of supporting its members, strengthening connections, and making a positive impact throughout the Brewster community.

New members connect with mentors, learn about their union, and begin the school year as part of the Brewster school community

Held at Bears’ Field, Back to the Den brought members of the Brewster school community together for an afternoon of activities and back-to-school fun. The district scheduled the event from 4:00–6:00 p.m. as a districtwide back-to-school fair featuring activities from school PTAs and community partners.
BTA members were on hand throughout the event to greet students and families, distribute giveaways, and help create a welcoming atmosphere as everyone gets ready for the start of a new school year.
For the BTA, events like Back to the Den are a great opportunity to connect with the students and families we proudly serve. While the work of educators happens in classrooms every day, being part of the larger school community is an important part of what makes Brewster special.
It was wonderful to see students excited about returning to school, reconnect with families, and share in the anticipation of another year of learning, growth, and community.

Several members of the Brewster Teachers’ Association (BTA) recently joined educators and union leaders from across the region at the annual NYSUT Tarrytown Regional Office Summer Leadership Conference. Held August 10–11 at the Windrose on Hudson Conference Center in Ossining, New York, the conference provided BTA members with an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and strengthen their leadership skills ahead of the new school year.The two-day conference brought together educators from throughout the region to share ideas, explore current issues affecting public education, and develop strategies for building strong, engaged school communities. Sessions focused on leadership, communication, advocacy, collaboration, and the important role educators play in supporting their colleagues and students.
